Feeling curmudgeonly......

"You're obliged to pretend respect for people and institutions you think absurd. You live attached in a cowardly fashion to moral and social conventions you despise, condemn, and know lack all foundation. It is that permanent contradiction between your ideas and desires and all the dead formalities and vain pretenses of your civilization which makes you sad, troubled and unbalanced. In that intolerable conflict you lose all joy of life and all feeling of personality, because at every moment they suppress and restrain and check the free play of your powers. That's the poisoned and mortal wound of the civilized world." ~ Octave Mirbeau, Torture Garden

Two new paintings

Two more for the archives. "Connor" is my pediatrician's receptionist's dog. The handsome guy in the Pebble Beach hat is my husband, John. I call this "California Dreaming" because the photo was taken on the Santa Monica Pier last February.

We're heading to Wisconsin

Alex and I are headed to Appleton WI today. He is auditioning for a tuba spot at Lawrence University.....a college that changes lives. Everything I read and hear tells me that the school would be the perfect spot for Alex., except it is 14 hour drive away!It comes recommended by his tuba teacher so we're going to check it out. Keep fingers crossed although I know he doesn't need it.

Where I am spending my vacation.....

Well, it's not here.....the "real" Key West. I will be spending a week in the Disney-fied Key West. I bet there won't be roosters crowing at 6am and pub crawls down Duval St. I just hope it is warmer than Rochester!
